Ask me what I did this summer.
Everything in the universe has a rhythm… Everything dances.
Fall and Recovery Technique  Humphrey believed : Rhythms of dance were a result of the dancer’s desire to pull toward and away from equilibrium.  She referred to the end effect as “static death/dynamic death.” By this, she meant the danger of constant equilibrium or the danger of too extreme a move away from equilibrium and used this idea as the human struggle for survival. She did much study on the force or energy as a creative element and felt that the desire to move was natural. She found that this desire was a stimulus in all organic matter to reach out from its center point.   Humphrey’s ideas on equilibrium also suggested that organic matter would eventually desire to return to the center, but only to be released once again. She saw this as a balancing act to ensure the “safety” of the organism -Karen Dito

“There are movements which impinge upon the nerves with a strength that is incomparable, for movement has power to stir the senses and emotions, unique in itself. Doris Humphrey”
Nothing so clearly and inevitably reveals the inner man than movement andgesture. It is quite possible, if one chooses, to conceal and dissimulate behind words or paintings or statues or other forms of human expression, but the moment you move you stand revealed, for good or ill, for what you are. *Doris Humphrey*
What I believe… “The Dancer believes that his art has something to say which cannot be expressed in words or in any other way than by dancing.” - Doris Humphrey
